Terms of Use

Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using exambank.org ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the Site.
About the Site
Exam Bank is a free educational tool that organises past National Senior Certificate (NSC) exam questions by topic for South African Grade 10, 11, and 12 students and teachers. The Site is provided free of charge.
You do not need an account to use it. Every question, memorandum and topic page is readable without signing in, and that is not going to change. An account only adds optional extras such as bookmarks, saved practice sets and progress figures.
Accounts
Creating an account is optional. If you create one, these terms apply to it.
Who may register. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent, guardian or teacher before creating an account. If you are under 13, please do not create one at all — use the Site signed out, which gives you every question anyway.
Your details. Give an email address you actually control, since it is how you sign in and how a password reset reaches you. A display name and grade are optional.
Your password is yours to look after. Do not share it, and do not let someone else use your account. If you think someone has got into it, change your password and tell us via the contact form. We cannot see your password, so we cannot tell you what it is — we can only help you reset it.
One account per person. Please do not create accounts in bulk or register on behalf of other people without their knowledge.
Closing your account. You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from your dashboard. It is immediate and permanent. We may also suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms — for example bulk scraping, attempts to interfere with the Site, or abuse of other users. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
Accounts are a convenience, not a promise. We may change or withdraw account features, and we do not guarantee the Site or your account will be available without interruption.
Use of Content
Past exam papers and memoranda displayed on this Site are sourced from the South African Department of Basic Education (DBE) and provincial education departments. These materials are government publications made available for educational purposes.
You may use the content on this Site for:
- Personal study and exam preparation
- Classroom teaching and lesson preparation
- Non-commercial educational use
You may not:
- Reproduce or redistribute content from this Site for commercial purposes without permission
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content in bulk
- Use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its availability
What You Add
If you have an account, you can save practice sets, bookmark questions and set a display name. That material stays yours — we do not claim ownership of it and we do not use it for anything beyond making your dashboard work. What we store and why is set out in the privacy policy.
Keep it clean and keep it yours. Do not use a display name or practice set name that is offensive, impersonates somebody else, or is used to advertise something. We may remove anything that does, and repeated abuse can cost you the account.
Difficulty ratings. When you mark a question easy, medium or hard, you are contributing to a figure other learners rely on. Rate honestly. Do not use scripts, repeated votes or multiple accounts to push a question's rating one way — the ratings are there to help someone decide what to practise next, and they only work if they are real. We may reset ratings that look manipulated or mistaken, and we may change how difficulty is calculated or displayed at any time.
Ratings are stored without any user identifier, so once submitted they cannot be traced back to you — which also means they cannot be withdrawn or deleted with your account. The privacy policy explains this in full.
Accuracy of Information
We make every effort to ensure that questions are correctly tagged by topic, grade, and paper. However, we cannot guarantee that all classifications are accurate. Past paper questions and memoranda are reproduced from official sources, but we accept no responsibility for errors or omissions in the original materials.
If you find a mislabelled question or other inaccuracy, please let us know via the contact form.
Intellectual Property
The design, layout, and original content of Exam Bank (including the topic classification system, reference pages, and educational summaries) are the property of Exam Bank. Past exam papers and memoranda remain the property of the Department of Basic Education and the respective provincial education departments.
